The very process of dough growth in a closed, hermetic environment (bread oven) was often compared in ancient times to the growth of a child in the womb: look at Polish "opieka/piecza/opiekować się" (care; to care for someone) etymologically they derive from baking :) Aristotle compares the uterus to a furnace, and Herodotus describes the necrophilia of the tyrant Periander of Corinth as "putting loaves into a cold oven", according to Artemidorus, the hearth (hestia) and the baking oven (klibanos) can represent women because they "receive things that create life"; Hippocrates describes the uterus in terms of the heat it produces, and compares the embryo formation to baking bread in an oven. In English we have "to have a bun in the oven" (to be pregnant). There is also a relationship between a woman and a stove in Slavic dialects, cf. "baba" can mean a woman but also woman "a hole in the furnace for the coals", "wide bench at the front of the stove", "a cooking fireplace bricked up in front of the stove", "half-room stove, on which several people can sleep; pregnant woman". If a woman gave birth, people would say: "the stove broke into pieces".
